Ever Imagined of Monorails as Office Workstations? - Search for Google!

Whoa! Google does it again. Weird Concepts, Weird Imaginations - exactly what Google did in Australia.

Have you ever dreamt of any weird workstations like a House Boat, Igloo, and Car etc? Then the dream, the imagination has come to true. Google, considering one smart engineer's not so serious request, installed two retired Sydney Monorail Cars in its offices in Australia.

Reality Check! These monorail cars do not ferry around the offices like a trolley delivering snacks and shuttling nerds to meetings. They’re being set up as meeting rooms, complete with TVs and air conditioning.

An Interesting Story though - At the beginning of this year, one of the Google employee Paul Cowan requested to facilities team that a monorail be installed to make it easier for employees to ferry around different Google offices, which are spread out in the Pyrmont suburb of Sydney. A member of the facilities team discarded the idea and by explaining why this was such a bad idea.

Cowan was very surprised six months later when for a meeting at a junkyard by the airport, where Google had purchased two old monorail cars. The cars were installed earlier this week for an estimated cost of around $250,000.

Yet another marketing attempt in which Google goes to absurd lengths to prove what a cool company it is. We absolutely get it, Google. You're super rich and you have slides in some of your offices and now monorail cars in another. On the flipside, it's actually pretty cool that Google's making use of the old monorail cars, which would otherwise have rotten in that junkyard for the next 100 years. Google is also funding local government by shoveling a bit of cash from its mountains of money.
